16th February, 2014, the chairman of BTG Mr. Duan Qiang, and the founder of AMAN Mr. Adiran Zecha, visited Ahn Luh Zhujiajiao (Shanghai) and Ahn Luh Lanting (Shaoxing).
Ahn Luh Zhujiajiao, named after — and located in — a historic area in Shanghai’s suburbs, will be designed to reflect the cultural identity of this ancient water town. Ahn Luh Zhujiajiao’s 35 villas are built in a traditional Chinese style to complement Ahn Luh’s vision of marrying Old World Chinese hospitality with the modernity of contemporary elegance. The property will also include a museum, restaurants, a library, meeting space, and a spa and tai chi centre.
Inspired by the works of Wang Xizhi, known as the Sage of Calligraphy from the Jin Dynasty, in his ‘Orchid Pavilion Preface’, the name for Ahn Luh Lanting is not only apt, but sets the stage for where the property will be situated. Ahn Luh Lanting is located in Shaoxing city, near Kuaiji Mountains, 30 minutes from Hangzhou, amidst rolling hills and picturesque surroundings. Covering an area of 9.2 hectares, the 99-key Ahn Luh Lanting will feature historic Hui-style homes that will be incorporated into 35 heritage houses. The hotel’s dining concepts will showcase authentic Chinese elements from Jiangsu and Zhejiang, high-quality local food specialties, as well as facilities such as the library, small conference facilities, specialty traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs), spa and Tai Chi centre.
Ahn Luh Zhujiajiao will be opened in the first half of 2015, and Ahn Luh Lanting will be in 2016.
